And the Baby's Name is....(drumroll please!)

On Sunday, Monu and Yakshi had a havan for their new little girl. A havan is a ritual in which we worship the fire.   It's customary to do this for new babies as a "naming ceremony."  Excited to hear the name they chose? Well, wait no longer!  Their new baby girl is officially....Kamika Syal!  Welcome to the family, Kamika!

The havan was right outside Monu and Yakshi's home.  Pretty much the entire family came, including Biji! Yes! We had someone carry her down to the car and driver her across the market to the havan. She had so much fun...she hardly get's to go outside of the house, so this was a real treat for her. Plus she got to hold her new great-grandchild, so she was elated.

Monu Bhaiya, his mom (my aunt), Kamya, Yakshi Bhabhi, and Kamika by the  fire

As part of the ritual, everyone has to throw this sacred dirt-type mix into the fire while the priest says some prayers
