Well, here I am...I thought this day would never come, but I am sitting in my kitchen in East Lansing, typing this blog post! That 4 months in India just FLEW BY! Wow.
My flights back home were very smooth - I connected through London Hethrow, which was pretty cool. The last flight of my journey, from Chicago to Grand Rapids, got late...sort of a bummer because at that time, I was just ready to be home. Oh well - I ended up going to a Starbucks and paying for coffee with US dollars...both for the first time in 4 months! Coming out of the airport to see my parents in Grand Rapids was so amazing...my mom was tearing up a little bit :) Leila even skipped lacrosse practice so she could come pick me up! I was so so happy to see her.
Now I'm back and focusing on getting over jetlag (yesterday I woke up at 4:15am and today I woke up at 5:30 am....getting better!). I also got a bit sick yesterday, probably from being tired and adjusting back. Overall, I am missing India so much (especially Biji), but I am very glad to be home. Can't wait to see everyone here!
I will leave you all with three differences between the US and India that were the first to strike me me:
1. You can actually drink out of water fountains
2. There are so FEW people here...I actually experienced silence for the first time in four months. It was a little strange to wake up and not hear horns honking, vegetable sellers yelling what vegetables they have, and various animals doing their thing
3. There is an abundance of toilet paper!! Crazy experience!!!
Namaste for now! Going to India for these 4 months was the best experience of my life...can't wait to blog about my future trips to India!
