College Fest - The only time BOYS can enter Lady Irwin College!

I can't believe I haven't written about Lady Irwin College's Fest yet! We had been hearing about this "Fest" since we came in January...all the girls were telling us how on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday in February, classes would be cancelled, and there was going to be a huge shindig with vendors, bands, performances, etc.  The best part was that BOYS would be allowed to enter the campus.  Because boys of our age group are usually not allowed in LIC, you can imagine what a big deal that was.  I swear, that is all we heard from the girls for the entire month of January.

What a huge affair! The whole front lawn was transformed into a festival with stalls put on by the students and vendors selling food.  In the front of the lawn, there was a large stage erected for the performers.

Interesting fact: All the girls wore western clothes.  Some of them had pretty skimpy western clothes for that matter.  It was very interesting to see what is in fashion with girls my age.  I will say that I saw a lot of those wedge-heeled peepholes...with socks.  Classy.

The days were filled with dances, street play performances, a debate competition, and other fun activities.  The dance competition was the best - and guess who won?  The IIT Delhi boys team! IIT Delhi is one of the top engineering schools in the country...just goes to show engineers rock.

Each evening there was a different performer:
Evening 1:  Farid Kote (a band that played some sort of contemporary Indian pop music.  It was a bit weird to be honest...)
Evening 2: A team of DJs (they were SUPER GOOD.  We had fun dancing the night away!)
Evening 3: Yo Yo Honey Singh (a really famous Punjabi rapper...he was a little over the top with is "gangsta" stunts, but everyone seemed to go really gaga over him. He did put on quite the show)

Here is a little 360 view of the fest with a glimpse of some of my friends at the end of the video. Enjoy!
